Liguria

Liguria is that skinny Riviera region, right next to Nice, France. It is home to the Cinque Terre national park and known for everything sea, with many gulfs, small ports, and beach towns: Portofino, Alassio and Sanremo. These towns are all lined with Ligurian olive trees, which produce the renowned Taggiasca olives and EVOO. Without a doubt, the most famous Ligure city is Genova, the port town that has played a vital historical role in Mediterranean trade. Genova is where Pesto Genovese comes from, a sauce that Ligurians pair with everything from croxetti, trenette and trofie pasta, to focaccia, to chickpea farinata, to a glass of vermentino wine.
