We’ve been fielding messages from customers, producers, journalists, and friends all over the world asking: what would the new tariffs mean for Gustiamo?
Until just three days ago, we were bracing for impact. But now, after the announcement of a 90-day temporary hold on the second round of 10% tariffs, we are feeling hopeful that all the precious ingredients we bring you won’t be taxed into oblivion.
Gustiamo was born to protect + promote real food. That hasn’t changed. We’re here for the farmers, pasta makers, fishmongers, cheesemakers, and olive oil artisans whose work cannot be industrialized or commodified. We’re here for them, and you’ve been here for us.
Your orders, your loyalty, your support of real food and real people… that’s what gives us power. Thank you for your belief in what we do. For understanding that this is about more than business. It’s about dignity, culture, and keeping culinary traditions alive.
We won’t run a sale. We won’t offer discounts. We’re not here to capitalize on a moment of uncertainty. If you want to front-load, to stock up on your pantry heroes, this is a good time. Not in panic, but in solidarity.
A comment from one of our followers on our Instagram said it best: “People power > political power.” We believe that, with all our hearts. Thank you for believing it too.
Con amore e resistenza,
The Gusti Team
TARIFF TALK IN THE PRESS
Interviewed by Bloomberg and Eater, our own Beatrice pointed out: “These additional costs cannot be absorbed by the producer: They are not big agro-industrial companies. It will penalize the small producers more than it will affect larger industrial companies. This will likely lead to a chain reaction, with domestic producers increasing the price of their products in the U.S. Everyone will lose.
