Francesco and Pia Travaglini report that this year’s harvest in Molise was a treasure hunt: Centro Italia had so few olives that the ones available became incredibly valuable. Did the Travaglinis find their treasure? Indeed they did!
Piane di Larino, their main oliveto, was blessed by good weather and therefore great quality olives. The Carpineto area, where they have some older groves, was not so lucky. Overall they harvested a lower quantity of olives, but as soon as the first drops of oil came out of the mill the verdict was clear: Il Tratturello 2024 is even better than last year.
AROMA
Pia says: “First you smell freshly cut grass, then green almond, artichoke, and green apple.”
TASTE
The tasting experience is SO dynamic. Bitterness and spiciness play on the tongue as if they were on a swing: at first, a very pleasant and round bitterness strikes. Then, a warming spicy kick seems to overpower the bitterness, but finally they coexist in a perfect harmony that has a very long finish and leaves your mouth super clean.
FLAVOR
Fruity, nutty, tingling, Il Tratturello 2024 tastes exactly like biting into a green, bitter almond.
Yes, they made fewer bottles than last year. Yes, the oil tastes better than last year. Yes, you should stock up now.
