Food & Wine Editors Love Panettone Biasetto

First, Panettone Biasetto won “best in Italy” yet again. Then, it came out as a “top pick” over at the New York Times. Now, Food & Wine has fallen in love with Master Pastry Chef Luigi Biasetto’s holiday masterpiece too! It made their list of the top five panettone worth buying for the holidays. Their favorite part about Panettone Biasetto? The quality and quantity of Luigi’s candied fruit:

“While he follows a traditional recipe, his panettone has a wider variety of fruit. In addition to the classic raisins and orange peel, there’s also candied citron, lemon, and cherries in every bite.”

That’s one of our favorite things about Luigi’s panettone as well: it’s chock full of delicious, jammy fruit.

The best gift you can give

The editors over at Food & Wine think Panettone is one of the best gifts you can give (or receive) this holiday season:

“No holiday food is more giftable than panettone”

Now that’s something Italians have known for years. Panettone makes an exceptional gift for anyone deserving in your life for many reasons. It comes glamourously packaged and is easy to carry from one place to another. Open the box, and you’ll find a “beautiful and shareable” bread tickling your senses with its intoxicating, “ultra fragrant” aroma. Also, as Food & Wine points out, “another characteristic is how long it lasts.” As long as it’s stored properly, panettone will keep fresh and delicious for months. But we doubt it’ll last beyond the new year!

Panettone is not something many cooks can accomplish in their home kitchens, it’s extraordinarily challenging to make.

“The time and care that go into making panettone, the cost of the ingredients, and its sheer deliciousness make this bread a special holiday gift for a food-loving friend or family member.”

We totally agree. There’s no better gift for the foodie in your life than panettone.
