You should be drizzling Extra Virgin Olive Oil on ALL your food. Not only does it tastes so good with almost every dish, but there are numerous health benefits.
Researchers at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University (LKSOM) just published a study showing new health benefits connected to EVOO consumption. Their research proves that an Extra Virgin Olive Oil enriched diet helps protect you against cognitive decline.
They explain that EVOO’s chemical structure activates a brain process that clears out residues and toxins. This protects our working and spatial memory and learning abilities, and could even lead to the reduction of the substances responsible for Alzheimer’s disease.
“The thinking is that Extra Virgin Olive Oil is better than fruits and vegetables alone, and as a monounsaturated vegetable fat, it is healthier than saturated animal fats” according to Dr. Domenico Praticò, Professor in the Departments of Pharmacology and Microbiology and the Center for Translational Medicine at LKSOM.
EVOO’s anti-aging properties keep your brain young, so don’t hesitate to indulge in this healthy fat. Just make sure you are getting the real thing and not the fake stuff that seems to be everywhere.
