Interview with Gustiamo-La voce di New York

Earlier this December,  La Voce di New York, an Italian newspaper that explores Italian culture and news abroad, interviewed our very own Beatrice.

3pic-300x300Beatrice narrated what’s behind Gustiamo’s mission and what goes into deciding  our producers and products: “We go and visit personally all of our producers, we meet them, get to know the way they work and make their products, we travel, attend food fairs, go to tasting exhibits, and listen to clients and friends’ opinions. We choose small producers, and the products that have an important story to tell; producers who respect food and terroir.” The relationships with our producers are just as important as the quality of the food!

Bringing quality Italian products into American homes has its cost, we at Gustiamo: “huge profits are not our goal…we want to bring here the notion of quality and sustainable food, bring the stories of those producers that work hard to make a good food that respects terroir, humanity and consumers.

Beatrice had fun with this interview, also because the bravissima Lilliana Rosano from La voce asked some hard question! For example she asked, “why is good food such a privilege in the USA?” To which Beatrice responded, “The problem is not about high quality food being expensive, it’s about junk food being so cheap, which damages people’s health and  the market.”
